July 14: Orwell Macros – Explore the smallest aquatic creatures from our waterways with librarian Heather. Hunt through muck to find each macro-invertebrate then use a projecting microscope to view your discoveries.
July 21: DINOLYMPICS – Race against the clock and other teams to win the Dinosaur Olympics! The minute-to-win-it style games will be fun for all ages.
July 28: Tie-Dye Party – Learn basic tie-dye techniques and create your own vibrant, one-of-a-kind t-shirt to take home. Bring your creativity and something white to dye.

Throughout the year, programs and events specifically for children and families include:

Story Time on Fridays at 10:30am (every Fridays except June, August, & December)
Homeschool Group on Thursdays at 10am (every Thursday during the school year)
After school clubs including Nature Club, History Club, Lego Club, Math Club
Teen Advisory Group on the second Friday, monthly at 7pm

Children are generally welcome at our presentations and events for adults. If you’d like to bring your child but aren’t certain, give us a call!

Information for parents of older children:

We are open after school until 6pm every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 4pm on Friday!

If your child is in 5th grade or above, they can walk to the library with permission from a parent or guardian (OVS policy).

Although we do not babysit, older children – just like adults – are welcome to use the space to work, read, play on the computer or quietly socialize.  See our policy here. An important note, our computers do not have any filtering software like you find in schools. We do not have oversight of how our computers are used. Please talk with your child about this and work with them to understand the importance of internet safety.
