We want the best for all Orwell residents — so I’m very proud to share that Orwell Free Library has received a national grant to help us make our community an even greater place for everyone.
Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities is an American Library Association (ALA) initiative that provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries to help them better serve people with disabilities.
The competitive award comes with a $10,000 grant to help the library increase the accessibility of our web presence and tech assistance programs for people with disabilities in our community.
During the first phase of the grant period, we will talk with area residents with disabilities (our focus group for this funding) to find out about their technology needs. Then we will design a supportive lineup of programs and purchase hardware to grow our tech-to-try offerings.
